On June 1, 2012, Eric Gordon, CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, addressed the arts and culture sector. He discussed Cleveland's Plan for Transforming Schools and the importance of the impending tax levy.
In November 2012, Cleveland passed it's first school levy in years and began its transformation process. The results of Cleveland's efforts will not fully reveal themselves for years to come, and we have already a major positive impact. It began with restoring a full school day for students in all k-8 schools. “Thanks to the generosity of the people of Cleveland, we can restore programs, return 50 minutes to the school day and develop a much-needed plan for math and reading intervention,” said Gordon.
